Zola praised intelligent Giroud and his role in his team
Giroud played an important role in the Rossoneri's Serie A championship last season.
Gianfranco Zola praised Milan striker Olivier Giroud, called him an
intelligent
striker.
The former Italy star worked with the French striker in the 2018-19 season, who was Maurizio Sarri's assistant at Chelsea. Giroud played an important role in Chelsea's squad that season and helped the team win the Europa League by scoring 11 goals and 5 assists. Now Zola praised Giroud and claimed that the French forward's teammates enjoy playing with him.
Zola said:
“Intelligence and the ability to put himself at the service of the team. But he is one of those centre-forwards loved by his team-mates, trequartisti and second strikers, because he is very good at putting them in a position to play well and be dangerous.
“He is not a protagonist and can act as a backup for others. Hazard loved playing with him precisely because of his ability to play as a backup.”
Asked about his particular abilities, Zola said:
“Very good at shooting, on the volley and from the spot. Before that he is very good at getting the space to do it.”
The French star scored 11 goals in 29 games last season as Milan won the Scudetto for the first time in a decade.
