Potter not worried on Caicedo amid Liverpool and United interest

The Reds’ desire to reinforce the midfield has resulted in an interest in singing Moises Caicedo.

Brighton

head coach

Graham Potter

is sure that the club will keep

Moises Caicedo

’s services amid

Liverpool

’s interest in landing him.

The 20-year-old has become a crucial player for the Seagulls since his move back from a loan spell in January, meeting the back of the net in their 4-0 win over Manchester United at the back end in the 2021-22 season.

After

Yves Bissouma

’s departure and move to

Tottenham

in June, Caicedo has become more important and he has been a mainstay this season, which had them sitting fourth in the Premier League as they grabbed 10 points from four matches.

Caicedo’s exploits were noticed, with United and Liverpool keen on acquiring his signature.

Potter is not worried about the player’s leave before the end of the transfer window on Thursday, although he thinks it is not impossible.

"It doesn't surprise me that people are looking at him because he's playing at a fantastic level and, as soon as you do your research on him, you realise he's a top kid,"

Potter said on Monday.

"Young, played in the Premier League, has all of the attributes to play at the highest level, so it's no surprise.

"But we know the position that he's in, we know the position that the club are in, which is that we don't want to lose him and we don't think we will. In football, you never know, that's how it is, but we're quite calm and confident."

Pressed about the reported £42million fee for Caicedo, Potter added:

"I think you'd probably get his boots for that, maybe. It's not for me to talk about, it is what it is."

Brighton will lock horns with Fulham on Tuesday, then going against Leicester City at the weekend.
