Inter and Lazio eyeing Dries Mertens as he exits Napoli

Dries Mertens will not pen a new deal with Napoli, but he is keen on staying in Serie A. Inter and Lazio are competing for his signature.

Dries Mertens

has said that he wants to only feature for one more season before calling it quits next summer. However, he did not accept the €2.4m per season salary that

Napoli

offered.

That is due to the fact that until June 30, his contract was worth €4.5m per season, so it was a large cut according to him.

Now, he should see what the future holds and he may stay in Serie A as

Inter

and

Lazio

are keen on acquiring his services.

Lazio would like him to reunite with former Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri, as he is suited to his 4-3-3 formation.

Inter are also interested in penning a contract with him as he can feature alongside his Belgium international teammate Romelu Lukaku.

However, Inter have to wait for Alexis Sanchez to terminate his deal until they can bring in another attack.

Those negotiations are taking place and they have yet to reach a conclusion as he demands €4m of the outstanding €7m to terminate his deal a year early.
