Aston Villa, Diego Simeone will turn his attention to a veteran that has a lot of experience in midfield. The club pronounced penning a contract with him on Wednesday and were eager to mention that he has more than 600 games to his name. Witsel is among Belgium’s golden generation and has been capped 124 times for the Red Devils.
Reports say that Simeone was interested to have another anchoring midfielder available for the 2022-23 season.
Hector Herrera departing, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo de Paul, Saul Niguez and Koke Resurreccion were the only central midfielders Simeone had. Therefore, Witsel will add some experience which they are seeking after a disappointing season.
