Breaking: Galtier officially replaces Pochettino as PSG manager

Paris Saint-Germain, who earlier confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino's tenure at the club is over, announces the arrival of the former Lille and Nice boss.

After PSG's failure in the Champions League last season, Pochettino's dismissal was expected as his long-anticipated departure from

Paris Saint-Germain

was confirmed on Tuesday as

Christophe Galtier

is the man who has been trusted to take over at PSG. Galtier has the strong support of the new PSG sporting director, Luis Campos. Pochettino's departure was confirmed just hours before Galtier appeared alongside PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi at a news conference. The Frenchman becomes the club's sixth coach since 2012 as he will be tasked with finally ending PSG's wait for Champions League glory.

Lille won Ligue 1 in 2020/21 under Christophe Galtier's leadership. This title emphasizes how successful his switch to a 4-4-2 formation was this season. Galtier's Lille held off favorites PSG to win the title on the final matchday with a 1-2 win away at Angers. He left Lille for

Nice

in 2021 and after a season, departed for the Parisians. Last season, he had a good performance with Nice as the club reached the final of the Coupe de France and defeat PSG in the route.

On the other end, Pochettino spent two and a half years as a player at Paris Saint-Germain after being appointed manager in January 2021. In the first season of his presence, he won Trophee des Champions and Coupe de France, but in the second season, he was only able to win League 1.
