Official: Pochettino leaves PSG, Galtier in line to join the club

The Argentinian head coach was finally axed from PSG bench.

have confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino's tenure at the club is over and Christophe Galtier is expected to be named as the club's new manager soon.

After PSG's failure in the Champions League last season, Pochettino's dismissal was expected. The former head coach of Tottenham was able to win the League 1 championship, but was eliminated from the competition after losing to

Real Madrid

in the round of 16. Paris Saint-Germain released a statement announcing the end of cooperation with Pochettino and it is expected that Christophe Galtier will be announced as the new head coach in the continuation of the changes.

The statement reads: 

"The club would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their work and wish them all the best for the future."

Pochettino, who spent two and a half years as a player at Paris Saint-Germain, was appointed manager in January 2021. In the first season of his presence, he won  Trophee des Champions and Coupe de France, but in the second season he was able to win League 1.
