Official: Barcelona sign Franck Kessie on free transfer
The Milan star has finally decided to spend the next season at Camp Nou.
Kessie has been recognized as one of Italy's top defenders for the past three seasons and has been in excellent form since making a permanent move from Atalanta to Milan in 2019. Entering the final months of his contract, there were many doubts about his continued presence at the San Siro, and finally Barca succeeded in the race to sign him.
Kessie also passed the medical tests and signed a 4-year contract with Barca and will be present in the pre-season as well. Barcelona will pay the Ivory Coast midfielder 6.5 million euros per year, which may increase depending on his performance.
Reports suggest that Barcelona have included a €500 million release clause in Kessie's contract, which expires in 2026. He scored 37 goals and 16 assists in 223 games for Milan. He was also named in the Serie A Team of the Year for the 2020-21 season and last season helped the Rossoneri win the Serie A title after 11 years.
