Liverpool set to meet chair of UEFA’s review into problems at final

Liverpool officials will meet with the chair of UEFA’s review into problems at the Champions League final.

UEFA has appointed the Portuguese politician Dr Tiago Brandao Rodrigues to lead the investigation process into the incidents before the

Champions League

final between

Real Madrid

and

Liverpool

.

The game between Real Madrid and Liverpool which ended with Real's victory was marked by many incidents outside the Stade de France, there were chaotic scenes with long queues to enter the Stade de France. Witnesses saw breaching fences, robbery, pickpocketing by locals, and police using tear gas on supporters.

The team led by Tiago Brandão Rodrigues will collect evidence from all parties involved and then will report to UEFA. There have been suggestions by the English press that Rodrigues has links to UEFA president Aleksandar Ceferin and Liverpool wants to make sure the process will be fully independent.

Liverpool officials have submitted 13 questions to UEFA and hope a meeting with the chair of the review panel will satisfy them. Real Madrid officials will also meet with Tiago Brandão Rodrigues.

Tiago Brandão Rodrigues was Minister of Education of Portugal between 2015 and 2022, in charge of the sports portfolio, in addition to being a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency between 2019 and 2021.
