Lautaro Martinez wants to stay at Inter amid Chelsea interest

Chelsea have allegedly shown interest in Inter star Lautaro Martinez, but the attacker is determined to stay with the Serie A club.

In the wake of reports linking him with a move to

Chelsea

, Lautaro Martinez has stated that "my plan is clear."

Following Chelsea's acquisition by a collective chaired by

Todd Boehly

, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport declared on Monday that the club is no longer subject to UK government penalties.

The club's new owners are anticipated to spend extensively in the forthcoming transfer window in order to enhance Thomas Tuchel's team and compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.

Martinez has been rumored to transfer to Chelsea, with Tuchel hoping to reconnect the Inter star with Romelu Lukaku, who helped the

Nerazzurri

win the Scudetto last season.

Martinez, on the other hand, has made it clear that he wants to stay at Inter.

"My plan is clear," he told reporters. "I really want to stay at Inter next season.

"I've not received communications from the club as of today, I want to continue at Inter next season."

Inter have already sold Ivan Perisic to Tottenham Hotspur's former coach Antonio Conte, and Alessandro Bastoni might follow the Croatian to north London.

When Juventus forward Paulo Dybala's contract ends, Simone Inzaghi's side is anticipated to sign him, giving Martinez the chance to play with an international teammate up top.

Martinez had a great season in

Serie A

, netting 21 goals in 35 appearances — only Ciro Immobile (27) and Dusan Vlahovic (34) scored more goals in the Italian top division.

Inzaghi will seek to maintain his star player with Inter next season as they attempt to reclaim the championship that AC Milan won in 2021-22.
