Karim Benzema scored in the last minutes of the first half after a mixed up between Alisson and two Liverpool defenders but his goal was controversially disallowed for offisde.

Vinicius netted on 58 minutes as he fired into an empty net from a low cross from the edge of the 18-yard box from Federico Valverde.

Liverpool had a good chance to score in the 69th minute but Courtois once again denied Salah. At his near post, Courtois blocks Salah's close range attempt from the tightest angles.

In the 79th minute, Salah's strike deflects off Jota and the Real's goalkeeper scrambles down to his left to turn the ball wide for the corner.

For a record 14th time,
