Niko Kovac appointed by Wolfsburg for three seasons

The Croatian coach will lead Die Wölfe from next season.

Wolfsburg

have confirmed that Niko Kovacs has been selected as the club's new manager.

Wolfsburg started the 2021-22 season under Mark van Bommel, but the Dutchman was sacked in October after poor results at the start of the season. Florian Florian Kohfeldt, who replaced Van Bommel, was able to improve the situation for a while, but the team fall from European places to a potential relegation battle in January. Kohfeldt remained Wolfsburg's manager until the end of the season and was able to finish the league in the middle of the table, but was axed after a draw in last week's game against Bayern Munich. Kovac, who has coached

Bayern Munich

and

Monaco

, will lead Wolfsburg for the next three seasons.

He said:

"I am a child of the Bundesliga. and the desire and motivation are very great to open another successful chapter with the Wolves."

Kovac has a history of winning the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, but his failure in the Champions League led to the termination of his cooperation with the club.
