Man City’s Mendy denies allegations of nine counts of sexual offences

The City defender has denied the allegations of nine sexual offences against six women.

said he is “not guilty” when standing in the dock at Chester Crown Court as he received charges and entered pleas for the first time.

The 27-year-old denied seven incidents of rape, one sexual assault and on attempted rape, with six young women.

The French international has allegedly did those things at his home during October 2018 and August 2021.

Mendy entered his pleas on Monday during a hearing before his trial, which is scheduled to start later in 2022.

He will stand before a jury on July 25 with his co-defendant Luis Saha Matturie, who also pleas that he is not guilty of the charges.

The 40-year-old denied eight counts of rape as well as four counts of sexual assault, which is related to eight women. It allegedly occurred during July 2012 and August 2021.

Judge Steven Everett insisted that the women should not be identified. Following their pleas, the hearing went into behind-closed-door sessions.

Mendy has featured for

Manchester City

from 2017 when he made a move from

Monaco

on a deal worth £52million. The club suspended him after the charges.
