“No such thing as luck” - Alves praises Madrid’s win over City
Los Blancos showed off an amazing comeback in the Champions League since they vanquished Manchester City 6-5 on aggregate.
Dani Alves
, the
Barcelonadefender, believes “there is no such thing as luck” as he praises
Real Madrid’s remarkable victory over
Manchester Cityin the semi-final of the Champions League.
The Spanish champions pulled off an epic display against City on Wednesday to make their way to the final of the competition against Liverpool, like the 2018 in Paris.
Rodrygo met the back of the net twice in the space of 91 seconds to take the game to the extra time, and there was only one minute left.
Karim Benzema’s penalty secured their victory notwithstanding losing games in the round of 16, quarter-final as well as semi-final; however, they reached the final of the competition.
Brazilian full-back Alves does not think Madrid’s comeback was a coincident.
"Just like in life, there is no such thing as luck,"
Alves posted shortly after full-time.
"Either you dominate the game or the game dominates you."
Praising Rodrygo’s two goals, who has become the first player to net a brace in the 90th minute of the Champions League’s knockout match, Alves said:
"Ah, what would soccer be without the Brazilians!"
With 11 matches in two legs, Los Blancos’ incredible win over City is the second-highest scoring semi-final in the Champions League’s history, behind Liverpool’s thumping 7-6 victory over Roma in the 2017-18 season.
