Fabio Cannavaro discusses Italy and Juventus' future

After the Bianconeri's rivals slipped up, former Juventus great Fabio Cannavaro believes four teams may still win Serie A this season.

Former

Juventus

defender

Fabio Cannavaro

believes the Bianconeri have a chance to win the Scudetto this season, claiming the Bianconeri are in a "four-man race" for the title. Cannavaro cited his previous club's competitors' mistakes as a cause for his optimism, adding that "it appears that nobody wants to win" Serie A.

Juventus are six points behind leaders

Milan

with six games remaining, and they closed the distance on their rivals over the weekend by defeating

Cagliari

2-1, while Milan drew 0-0 with Torino and Napoli fell 3-2 to Fiorentina.

At an event in Tuscany, the 2006

Ballon D'or winner

commented, "It appears that nobody wants to win it." "It gives me a good feeling when I have an opportunity to make a difference. Anything may happen in the championship at any time. It appears to be a four-man battle based on the results of those ahead of Juventus. "We know Juventus; they never give up, and this is a championship that will undoubtedly surprise us.

"It's an odd championship since no one takes advantage of the opportunity to knock the others off the top. It's a title that any of the four teams can win. It will be an interesting conclusion if the findings [continue to be] as they are. If Juventus wins the title, it will be their 10th in 11 years and sixth under Allegri's guidance. After Italy's shock play-off defeat to

North Macedonia

last month, Cannavaro was asked about his country's second straight failure to qualify for the World Cup.

The failure to reach Qatar "hurts," he said. "We won't be able to [have our] say in the World Cup after 2006, which has always seen us as protagonists. Beyond that, I'm saddened by my resignation from the fact that things have to be this way. It's a shame because there are generations of Italians who have never seen a World Cup final. "We have to adapt quickly. I don't have the cure, I don't have the recipe, and I don't have control over the situation.

"It [the Italian Football Federation] is a dysfunctional organization. The [Italian] teams used to go to Europe and command; we used to reach Champions League finals, but we haven't done so in years.
