Signings Arsenal Need in the Next Transfer Window

European football, with the Champions League especially, has become a huge talking point, as a club like Arsenal are expected to qualify for the tournament, but competing in the tournament also comes with it’s challenges. 

One of the main challenges associated with the Champions League is the strain it puts on a squad. If Arsenal expect to be able to compete in the Champions League, as well as in the Premier League, their squad will need to be strengthened. 

Here are some of the areas in which Arsenal need strengthening: 

Striker 

With Pierre Emerick Aubamayeng’s exit, and questions surrounding whether or not Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will agree to new contracts, it’s clear that the gunners need a new talisman. The focus will need to be on a seasoned goal getter who has a proven track record of scoring. 

As it currently stands, Lacazette and Nketiah unfortunately have not been performing at the level that has become expected of them. Lacazette has become an integral part of the starting 11, but mainly as in a link-up-play role, with much of his valuable work coming from his passes with his back towards goal. The stiker has only managed four goals this season. 

While Nketiah shows some promise, a mixture of not being clinical enough, and lacking playing time have hampered what began as a very promising career. As it stands for the current season, Nketiah has made eleven appearances, but has not managed a shot on target so far.

all predict Arsenal to finish in the top four, there is a good chance that they won’t be able to sustain that in the coming seasons if they don’t invest in a player to score goals frequently. 

Midfielders

Another area the gunners are in need of some strengthening is in midfield. Currently, Arsenal have a number of players to draw from that can do the job, but if they want to reach the next level, they’ll need to invest heavily in order to improve this part of their squad. 

As it stands, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have done a notable job of holding down the midfield, but

, and Partey’s injury issues have many fans feeling Arsenal’s midfield is in need of some investment. 

While the Gunners have strengthened their midfield with newcomers Albert Sambi Lokonga, and playmaker Martin Odegaard, they’ll need more experience in central midfield if they are to put up a fight in the Champions League and the Premier League. 

Right Back 

Another area the gunners could improve is at right back. While the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu has been revolutionary down the right flank, his injuries have put the lack of depth in this position on notice. Currently, Cedric Soares is providing cover in this position, and while he’s done a commendable job, it’s clear that Arsenal need a little more from a backup. 

Arsenal are able to recall the services of Hector Bellerin, who is on loan at Real Betis, but in truth, it’s looking more likely that the Spaniard will remain in his home country. Sources have stated that Arsenal have no interest in continuing his contract. 

It’s clear that the next transfer window could be make or break for the men from North London. If they are unable to strengthen well enough, they may be serious issues, but if they are to bring in some quality talents, they could look to go on and continue the great form they’ve been in this season.
