Christensen's contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season, and Chelsea intend to extend the Danish defender's contract in the coming weeks. He, along with Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta, are the three Chelsea defenders whose contracts expire at the end of the season, and all three are on Barcelona's radar.
According to Marca, the Blaugrana are monitoring the 25-year-old defender's condition and Xavi wants to strengthen his defense for next season by adding him to his squad. Christensen and Rudiger have formed a strong defensive pair under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, but it looks like at least one of them will play for another team next season.
Although Barcelona have not reached an agreement on Christensen's salary, the fact that he will be added to the team as a free agent and the club will not pay for his transfer is a positive feature for him.
