Roma is still interested in Arsenal’s Xhaka

Roma is still looking to convince the Gunners to make the transfer happen.

Roma’s

boss

Jose Mourinho

has been a fan of the

Gunners

’ midfielder

Granit Xhaka

and the Premier League side doesn’t seem to be interested in letting Xhaka leave, but the Serie A side is still planning to make offers for the player.

Roma was even close to signing the Switzerland international and making him Mourinho’s first signing in the summer, but the midfielder reached an agreement with Arsenal and signed a new contract that commits him to the Premier League side until 2024, but this doesn’t mean that Mourinho has given up on the possibility of Xhaka’s transfer to Serie A.

Despite their struggles in signing Xhaka, the Giallorossi is close to signing

Porto’s

midfielder

Sergio Oliviera

, but Mourinho is still looking for reinforcements in his squad to change things around.

Roma has struggled with nine defeats in 21 games which have been their worst performance in the last 40 years, and although they don’t seem to be planning on replacing Mourinho immediately, it may cost him his job in the long term if he doesn’t make the difference that is expected from him.

Xhaka has been an important part of the Gunners’ squad since he returned to action after a knee injury, and it seems unlikely for the Swiss midfielder to be joining Mourinho in the near future.
