Chiesa: Cristiano comes from another planet & is an inspiration for me

Federico Chiesa did not take a vacation to recuperate from an injury, and he confesses that Cristiano Ronaldo inspired him.

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Repubblica, the Italy international spoke about the previous year.

Chiesa was a member of Italy's

Euro 2020

winning squad and has emerged as one of Europe's most dynamic players.

He is now sidelined with an injury and has not taken a vacation during the Christmas holidays to work at the Continassa and regain his peak shape.

"I must recover, I want to be at my best in 2022, so I didn't go on holiday," the Bianconeri star said.

Juventus played their final game of the season on December 21 and will be back in action on January 6 against Napoli.

Massimiliano Allegri

had stated that Chiesa might become a forward in the future, but for the time being, the 24-year-old seems unconcerned about a new position on the field.

"I

am a winger, but I always play where the coach wants," he said.

"As I proved at the Euros or here at Juventus, I am a winger who can play on the left or the right."

The Old Lady made a sluggish start to the

Serie A

season, picking up only one point in the first three fixtures.

They have, however, gained 13 points in their previous five league games and are three points off of a

Champions League

position.

Inter hold a 12-point advantage over Juventus at the top of the table.

"We should not think about Inter," said Chiesa. "They are doing something extraordinary. They feel well and have consistency. We must stay there and wait for mistakes from clubs ahead of us. We must only focus on ourselves."

Chiesa also mentioned Kaka and Alessandro Del Piero as role models, but he didn't leave out Cristiano Ronaldo.

"His dedication, his mental strength, his ability to be decisive and present in every situation was an inspiration for me," the former Fiorentina star admitted.

"Cristiano is coming from a different planet, it was thrilling to train with him and see what he does to be so strong. I was lucky enough to spend some time and watch live one of the best players in the history of football."
