Kimmich to sit out the rest of 2021 due to lung infiltration

Bayern Munich midfielder has been out of action due to COVID-19 and is set to miss the remainder of the year.

Bayern Munich

midfielder

Joshua Kimmich

is set to miss the remainder of 2021 as he recovers from coronavirus.

The 26-year-old, who has refused to be vaccinated due to what he claims to be shortage of information about the long-term effects of the vaccines, has been out of action since November when he tested positive for COVID-19.

Bayern confirmed earlier that although the defensive midfielder is no longer positive for COVID-19, he will be sidelined until January.

Kimmich later explained in a statement on the club’s official website that he is set to sit aside until the January due to "slight infiltrations" in his lungs.

"I'm happy my self-isolation caused by the coronavirus has ended,"

Kimmich said.

"I'm doing very well, but I'm not yet able to train fully due to slight infiltrations in my lungs. I'll therefore do some rehabilitative training and can't wait to be fully back in action in January."
