No contract extension for Sergi Roberto as it's close to expiration

The Spanish star is nearing the end of his contract with Barcelona.

The future of Barcelona defender

Sergi Roberto

at the Camp Nou  is still uncertain.

The Spanish defender has a contract with the club until the end of the current season and there are currently no negotiations to extend his contract. He joined

Barcelona

's Academy in 2006, was able to reach the first-team and performed well for his team during this period, but now the possibility of his departure from the club has been raised.

Xavi, the new Barca manager, has announced to the club that they will keep him and extend his contract, but there is no news of a contract extension at the moment.

Mundo Deportivo

has claimed that the club has not yet begun negotiations to extend his contract, and in this situation, the

Spain

defender is considering leaving the club.

However, there is still ample opportunity to extend his contract and the club could begin negotiations in the coming months. Roberto, meanwhile, could enter into negotiations with non-Spanish clubs from January 1 and agree a transfer at the end of the season as a free agent.
