Real Madrid should not slip after Barca poor results - Carvajal

The Spanish defender believes that Los Blancos should continue its path with strength.

Real Madrid

defender Danny Carvajal believes that despite Barcelona's poor results at the beginning of the season, Real Madrid should not be Optimistic with the results.

Barca are currently ninth in the table, 11 points behind leaders Real Sociedad and 10 points behind second-placed Real Madrid. The Blaugrana, who lost Lionel Messi this season, have not won in their last four games. Following these poor results, Ronald Koeman was sacked and former Barca star Xavi was chosen as the new manager. Now Carvajal stressed that Real should not give up and slip.

"Far from it. We respect all rivals. We are surprised to see Barca so far behind, but no one can rule them out for any title.

"Respect is essential. Teams have better and worse moments, but everything comes out."

Asked about Xavi's presence at Barca, Carvajal said:

"It is a safe change. The arrival of a figure like Xavi for Barcelona will fill them with enthusiasm.

"Although he is a rival, I wish him all the luck in the world – not against us – because he is a colleague."
