‘Milan were more determined in the second half’ – Olivier Giroud

AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has hailed the importance of their 3-2 victory over Hellas Verona and explained what changed for the Rossoneri during the half-time break.

Stefano Pioli

’s men were two goals down after 24 minutes, but they produced a superb second half as they came from behind to beat

Hellas Verona

3-2 at San Siro on Saturday night.

The visitors had a comfortable halftime lead thanks to a

Gianluca Caprari

goal and an

Antonin Barak

penalty, but

Olivier Giroud

cut the gap in half with a 59th-minute header.

The Rossoneri then turned the game around in two minutes, with

Franck Kessie

equalizing from the penalty spot and

Koray Gunter

’s own goal.

“After the first half, I thought in the locker room that it was not over and we needed to show some more character. We took time to get into the game, myself included, so maybe I need more match fitness,” Giroud told Sky Sport Italia.

“The important thing is getting back from 2-0 down and it’s so emotional to do that in front of the fans. I am very happy.”

What changed for the Rossoneri after that disappointing first-half performance at San Siro?

“We were more determined in the second half, as before the break we lost too many duels on the pitch. Perhaps we needed to be more aggressive and we did that very well.”

For a short period this evening, Giroud played alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“I love him, I can’t wait to play with him more and more and more!”
