Raphael Varane out of action for weeks due to muscle injury

Manchester United have announced that their new defender will be out of action for several weeks.

Manchester United

defender

Raphael Varane

was forced off the pitch in France’s Nations League final against Spain due to a muscle injury.

The French-center back, who joined United in the summer transfer window this year, was absent in the first few weeks of the Premier League and is going to be sidelined again due to his untimely injury.

The Red Devils are set to face Leicester at King Power Stadium on Saturday in their first Premier League match after the international break. Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men will host Atalanta in the Champions League a week later, after which they return to their domestic league to face Liverpool and Tottenham. Although United’s medical team has not specified the exact time of Varane’s return to the field, the news

indicates

the possible absence of the 28-year-old defender in the aforementioned games.

An official statement from Manchester United reads:

"Raphael Varane sustained a groin muscle injury in the UEFA Nations League final and has commenced rehabilitation at the club.

“He will be out for a few weeks."
