Dias hopes to face Messi in Champions League clash

The Argentine superstar is a doubt for his side’s upcoming game against the Citizens.

Manchester City will face PSG in Group A of the Champions League on Tuesday. Having added a host of top-class players to their squad, the Parisians will look forward to getting revenge for their semi-final elimination of last year. However, they might have to play without the services of Lionel Messi, who suffered a knee

injury

last week.

Ruben Dias

, who is preparing to face PSG’s deadly attacking line, hopes Messi will be fit for the game.

"Messi is a phenomenal player and as a professional, you want to play against all those sorts of names,"

he told a press conference.

"But whether it’s Messi, Mbappe, Neymar or [Mauro] Icardi, PSG have amazing strength in depth and no matter who it is we face, it’ll be a tough test. Everyone is looking forward to this game for exactly that reason.

"They (PSG) have obviously strengthened a lot all over the pitch. The signings they have made this season have been fantastic and it will be a different challenge to the team we faced last year.

"But they have also been one of the strongest teams in Europe for a number of years now.

"The likes of [Sergio] Ramos and Messi will add to their winning mentality, but when we played last season, they already had Neymar, Mbappe and [Angel] Di Maria."

Messi missed PSG’s Ligue 1 victories against Metz and Montpellier and the French giants are yet to provide an update on his injury.

Following their match against PSG, Manchester City will face Liverpool in their next league game on Sunday.
