I was at Inter, but my head was in London - Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku admits he made the decision to return to Stamford Bridge when it became clear that Chelsea's interest was "serious".

Lukaku

revealed that when he realized Chelsea's serious interest in him, he forced

Inter

to allow him to leave. The transfer was eventually made for $136 million.

The Belgium international has told HLN of securing a return to the Stamford Bridge ten years after he first linked up with

Chelsea

: "

With Chelsea’s third offer, I knew it was serious and I wasn’t there anymore

.

"Chelsea offered €110m plus [Davide] Zappacosta, but Inter said no, so I went to [Simone] Inzaghi’s office asking to find an agreement.”

"I was still at Inter, but my head was already in London.

"Inter pulled me out of sh*t, I would have only left the Nerazzurri for Chelsea."

Chelsea

had previously signed Lukaku once from Anderlecht in 2011 but loaned him to Everton and West Brom after a disappointing performance for the young Belgian. Lukaku played only 15 times during his time at Chelsea but did not score a goal.
