Andrea Belotti close to agreeing new Torino deal

Torino captain Andrea Belotti is on the verge of agreeing to a new contract with the Serie A side but there are still problems on the release clause, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The striker has one year left to his current contract and he is yet to pen an extension, so the Granata could lose their captain on a free transfer next summer.

However, according to Sky Sport Italia pundit

Gianluca Di Marzio

, there has been significant progress in negotiations over the contract extension.

The new deal will see the Italy international earn €3.3m per season.

The main problem in the offer is the release clause, as it is claimed Belotti would rather have a more affordable clause around €20-25m, but the Turin club are hoping to set it at a minimum of €40m.

His current contract has a release clause worth €100m, but it is valid only for the non-Italian clubs.

Belotti is weighing up his options after receiving a new contract offer from Torino and wants to see signs of significant improvement before committing his long-term future to the club.

The 27-year-old’s name has emerged among Inter’s list of possible replacements for Romelu Lukaku in the center-forward position following the Belgian’s departure for Chelsea.
