We have shown the kind of people we are - River Plate star

The Argentine star, who was playing as a goalkeeper for the first time, had a remarkable shine

River Plate

star Enzo Perez, who playe as goalkeeper for the first time in his their recent game, praised his side's performance.

River Plate had only 11 players against Sant Fe in the Copa Libertadores, so Perez, the injured midfielder, stood inside the goal instead of the goalkeeper. River Plate players were infected with Covid-19 and therefore, not even the fourth goalkeeper of the team was available.

They were also not allowed to use the academy goalkeeper, so 35-year-old Perez stood inside the goal and, with his brilliance, became his team's best player to advance to the next round of the competition with a 2-1 victory. After the game, Perez praised his team's performance.

"Unfortunately, we had to suffer the contagion issue, but we rescued everyone's heart, manhood and personality,"

Perez told ESPN.

"We once again demonstrated the group and the kind of people we are. I don't fall too much into everything we've been through, I tried to focus and help the team. There is going to be a lot of talk about this game.

"I was asking questions, practicing with the goalkeeping coach, listening to advice. I lost a bit, but always took the penalty spot as a reference."
