Italian legend talks about life after football

Roberto Baggio has talked about his life after retirement from football.

Italy’s former striker

Roberto Baggio

, who has been away from football for years, says that he is happy with his retirement and loves to be in touch with nature.

“I'm happy without football,"

Baggio told Il Venerdi.

"First of all, to be in touch with nature, is the most beautiful thing. I work with something that satisfies me.

“I enjoy the little things, that in the end are the most beautiful and fulfilling.”

Baggio, who won the 1993 Ballon d’Or, thinks that playing with today’s rules will better for any player as they are protected by the rules and the officials

“Not just me, but all the others from my time, especially the attackers, would be happy to play with these new rules that protect them,”

Baggio continued

.

“If I think about the penalties and the nine metres and 15 centimetres, I would definitely have enjoyed that in my time too.”

He has also talked about Maradona and Paolo Rossi both died last year, saying that it has been hard for him because they were too close to him.

“They were two persons we were all very close to, the whole world of football,”

Baggio said.

“They wrote an era and the story of the World Cup.

“I was fortunate to have them as friends and I have maybe lost them more than anyone else.”
