Rangers appeal Covid-related bans for five players

After being fined by the club for attending a house party in breach of the rules, Nathan Patterson, Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Brian Kinnear, and Dapo Mebude have been banned by the Scottish FA for four matches were and two other suspended games until the end of this season.

Breaching SFA rules 24 and 77, the mentioned players will miss Rangers' matches against Cove Rangers (April 4), Hibernian (April 11), St Johnstone (April 21), and the Scottish Cup fourth round.

Earlier, Rangers’ boss, Steven Gerrard, revealed the players had been told in "no uncertain terms" about what was expected of them after being temporarily allowed to rejoin his squad.

Rangers will face Cove Rangers on April 4 in the Scottish Cup third round on Sunday.
