"Samp can do better" - Ranieri

Sampdoria coach, Claudio Ranieri requires his players to show "determination" in the match against Fiorentina on Sunday. "I know this team can do more".

Sampdoria

are standing 10th in Serie A, but

Ranieri

needs to come back from a bitter 1-1 tie with Benevento last time.

“I know that this team can do more,”

Ranieri

announced at a press conference.

“I know them, I know what they can give me and in Benevento we waited too long.

“I want that heart, that determination, that mutual help, and the will to give our all in every situation.”

He awaits a solid match against Fiorentina at the Marassi on Sunday.

“Fiorentina are an opponent with water in their throats,”

he added.

“President [Rocco] Commisso said that they want nine points from their next three games.

“We lost 3-0 in 10 men without them having a shot on target. Two penalties and an own goal.

“The team tried to score until the end, and we did with [Manolo] Gabbiadini. It was worth nothing, but that’s the spirit of the team that didn’t want to lose.”

Manolo Gabbiadini is currently recovering from surgery.

“He’s recovering with us, he’s not ready yet,”

the coach announced.

Sampdoria

had a 2-1 win against Fiorentina in October with a run of five unbeaten matches.

“Sampdoria have improved,”

Ranieri explained.

“We came from two defeats against Juventus and Benevento, then we played three wonderful games [in Serie A]."
