"Never over until the final whistle" - Davide Nicola

Torino coach, Davide Nicola believes the club bounce back from 3-0 down to keep Atalanta 3-3 could be counted as "a step forward in terms of self-belief. The game is never over until the final whistle."

By the 21st minute of the match, Atalanta was 3-0 ahead, but

Torino

fought back and had the chance to turn the game on its head to snatch a point.

“Quite simply, the next step is for us to try taking the lead and see what we can do from there!”

Nicola

announced.

“The positive here is the result, that we achieved three consecutive draws in very tough fixtures. We were up against an Atalanta side with a precise identity and style, so the fact we came back from 3-0 down has to be a step forward in terms of our self-belief.

“It seemed to be over at 3-0 down, but the game is never over until the final whistle. That is what we needed to realise and we’re getting it now.

“People always look at the final pass or situation that was misread, but when we concede a goal, it’s down to five or six different situations that were misread. They add up and it’s never just about an individual, but the whole team.

“I do ask this team to defend in a different way to what they were accustomed to. I believe they have the capability to be aggressive and defend while going forward to attack their opponents.

“I believe this team has what it takes to fight it out with everyone.”
