Milan calculate the season diffrently - Maldini

The Rossoneri legend sees the bigger picture of the continuation of the season.

Paolo Maldini believes that

Milan

is thinking about how far they are from fifth place in the table, rather than thinking about its five points lead from the rivals.

Milan has had a good season so far and is currently at the top of the Serie A table. The Rossoneri must win tonight's game against Parma to maintain their 5-point lead over rivals. However, Maldini stressed that they are more concerned with how different they are from fifth place.

He told Sky Sport Italia:

“The calculations we make are not about the leadership, but about how far we are from fifth place. That means that when we eventually lose a game, and it will inevitably happen at some point, it won’t be a drama,”

“We can play without too much pressure because the expectations did not have us up there. I won’t say it’s a fluke or anything, but we don’t have the same pressure as some others.”

Last time Milan was undefeated in their first 11 matches in Serie A, they went on to win Scudetto in 1991-92 , 1992-93 and 2003-04. Maldini added:

“Starting strong helps, that’s obvious, but the teams of the past had super-competitive squads and also different expectations compared to the current side.”
