"Spezia only played one half" - Italiano

Vincenzo Italiano remarks that Spezia had performed well in the first half of the 4-1 loss to Crotone, but "didn’t really leave the locker room" after the break.

“The first half was quite even, we did well and played in a similar way to recent games,”

Italiano

announced.

“However, if you don’t really leave the locker room after the break, then you are going to lose 4-1. Crotone are bottom of the table, but they are to be respected and have a lot of quality.

“Maybe we needed this as a wake-up call, to get our feet back on the ground, because we didn’t have the right attitude or determination in the second half.

“I don’t know what happened at half-time, we had been in control of the game. It’s not the first time we fell apart after going behind and we need to work on that, because there’s the risk of ruining the good work we did before.

“If anyone in this squad lowered their guard after a few too many compliments lately, then this is the sign they need to step it up.”

However,

Italiano

has no plan of putting aside the strike and positive approach

Spezia

have acquired all season.

“It’s an approach that works, we’ve seen that. We know that it involves some risks at the back, as when we get caught mid-transition, we have to chase back and can at times have to give away a few free kicks or yellow card offences, that’s all taken into account.”
