Milan looking for success, claims Maldini

Maldini says that he did not expect such a long streak in the league but he could see the signs.

After years of failure,

Milan

is finally experiencing a successful season. They are on top of

Serie A

and also in Europa League.

Maldini

says that he could predict success in January before the Covid-19 outbreak but he didn’t know the streak would last this long.

“We are not looking for statistics to improve, but for successes,” Maldini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect such a long streak in the League, but I had already seen the signs in January, before the world stopped.”

And Maldini said the Rossoneri have set a target to do better than last season, when the team qualified for the Europa League.

“The 2020 results say so [that Milan fight for the Scudetto],” he added. “But our season now unfolds over two years. We have set a target.

“The minimum is to do better than last time. We qualified for the Europa League and the idea is to do more.

“It would be absurd to not go for the Champions League, even if the ownership has not given us an input in this sense.”
