Guardiola wont let met take penalties

Ederson is eager to take penalties, but his manager opposes it

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson claims that he is the best penalty taker of his team, but Pep Guardiola does not allow him to take penalties.

Last season, when Manchester City had very poor statics in converting penalties, the Spanish coach confirmed that Ederson is his team's best penalty taker. Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan, and Sergio Aguero have missed penalties many times. It seemed that Kevin De Bruyne was the solution until he lost the penalty in a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in November.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is inspired by former Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni, who has scored 131 goals from free-kicks and penalties. However, Guardiola does not allow him to take penalties.

“I don't train much free-kicks. I trained penalties and when I played for Riberao I took some free-kicks but that is in the past now,” Ederson said. “I am the best penalty taker but I am not chosen to take them!

“The most important thing is that we score goals and win the game.”

Ederson added about Manchester City's chancec in europe:

“Of course, that is what the team is working towards. The most important thing is hard work. The team is united, dedicated, playing well. We are developing. In the last game we played really well and I hope we are continuing this good work. I think our team can go far.”
