Serie A January Transfer Window 2021: Live Updates

In the Serie A January transfer window 2021, almost all the teams are looking to strengthen their squad, but all of them are facing financial problems due to the coronavirus. This article will cover all of the Serie A January transfer window news of 2021. So, stay tuned for more updates.

Italian football is on its way back to its good old days, and the Serie A has made significant progress in recent years. Signs of this progress include the presence of big stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Romulo Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimović in Italian teams.

After Italian football clubs fell sharply and fell behind other European leagues, the Italian government has recently drastically reduced its players' income tax to make up for the lag from other leagues, while in prestigious European leagues the tax is around 50%. Player salaries in Italy have dropped to around 30, making Italian teams much more financially capable of attracting stars than ever before.

The bad news for Serie A clubs is that the 50% tax deduction law on the salaries of non-Italian players on Italian teams will no longer apply, and the Italian government can enforce the old law if necessary. A return to the tax code could be costly for Italian teams as they have to pay more to attract high-paying non-Italian players and generally may not be able to pay as much as they did in recent years.

Here are the Serie A latest transfer news of 2021:

After almost a decade, the Serie A league seems to be out of unipolar mode.

is also interested in signing Argentinian bianconeri star.

Fabián Ruiz

's 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz does not want to extend his contract and looks set to return home in the summer of 2021. As one of the

Serie A January 2021 transfer window live updates

and According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Spanish midfielder has no plans to extend and would like to return home; where

Atletico Madrid

is interested in him but there has been no offer yet. Ruiz's contract is valid until 2023, and Di Laurentiis, the owner of Napoli, wants at least €50 million for him. Napoli have not yet surrendered and will continue to try to persuade Ruiz to extend his contract.

Arkadiusz Milik

In the Serie A latest transfer news of 2021, there has been talks about Milik's departure. Arkadiusz Milik does not want to miss Euro 2021, and the Polish striker's manager is working to prepare for his departure from Napoli in January. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid has to make changes in the forward position because Diego Costa wants to leave Atletico Madrid in January.

Atletico Madrid are interested in signing 26-year-old Napoli striker

Arkadiusz Milik

, who has a contract with the team until June 2021 but he is off the official list of Napoli and is not allowed to play. Atletico Madrid prefer the loan transfer hypothesis, but given the terms of Milik's contract with Napoli, the loan transfer seems very difficult. As one of the

Serie A transfer rumours of 2021,

Juventus is also interested in signing Arkadiusz Milik, but Napoli have announced a price of €15 million.

Given the good relations between Napoli and Atletico Madrid, this figure may be reduced for the Spanish team. Atletico Madrid is determined to sign Diego Costa, and Milik is the top priority. According to RMC Sport,

Marseille

is also interested in signing Milik. The French team is looking to sign Milik on loan until the end of the season and hope to initially extend the former

Ajax

striker's contract for a year to pay Napoli in the summer of 2021.

Ivan Perišić

Inter Milan Croatian winger

Ivan Perišić

could be transferred to another team in the Serie A winter transfer window of 2021. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ivan Perišić is a player that Antonio Conte used a lot in the early part of the season, but his situation has changed in the last few weeks. According to the report, the Croatian winger could leave Inter in the

Serie A January transfer window 2021

, and if an offer is received, Nerazzurri will consider it. Last season Perišić played for

Bayern Munich

on a loan transfer and had a dream season with the German team.

Ivan Perišić is still being considered by

Tottenham

boss Jose Mourinho. If one of the Tottenham wingers leaves, there is a possibility that Perišić will be transferred to his team.

Jose Mourinho insisted on signing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perišić when he was the manager of

Manchester United

, but the Red Devils' management refused to pay the €50 million requested by Nerazzurri. According to Eurosport, current Tottenham boss is still interested in Perišić. According to the report, Tottenham is considering offers for two of their wingers,

, and in particular

Eric Lamela

, and if one of them separates, he may take action for Perišić.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen

is looking to leave Inter in January, and this has been confirmed by the club's executive director, Giuseppe Marotta. In the

latest Serie A transfer news and rumours

, several clubs have expressed interest in signing the Danish midfielder.

Arsenal

have a better chance of signing him, but the Gunners have yet to take action to sign him.

Eriksen's return to the English Premier League is very likely. Eriksen has been offered to

Real Madrid

and Atletico Madrid, but given the complex economic situation of both clubs, such a move seems unlikely to attract him.

Valencia

have also contacted Inter and asked about the terms of Christian Eriksen signing. The Spanish club is not doing very well, not only in terms of sports but also financially, but at the same time they want to improve their ranking in the table by strengthening themselves. Valencia want Eriksen without a buy-out clause (only six months on loan) and are asking Inter to pay a percentage of his net salary.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the departure of Thomas Tuchel and Pochettino's arrival in

Paris Saint-Germain

will bring Christian Eriksen closer to the French club and work with his former coach. At the same time, Inter can ask PSG for Antonio Conte's favorite midfielder

Leandro Paredes

.

Andrea Pinamonti

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte has asked Inter's manager to sign a striker as

Romelu Lukaku

's bench in the

Serie A winter transfer window of 2021

, because

Andrea Pinamonti

has not been convincing.

Chelsea

striker

Olivier Giroud

is back on the Nerazzurri list but Inter Milan has to negotiate with Chelsea and it is not easy to sign him. Ivory Coast forward

Gervinho

is another option to see if

If Juventus can sell

Hertha Berlin

is interested in attracting Bernardeschi. Juventus also discussed the exchange of Papu Gomez and Federico Bernardeschi, which would not be possible due to the high wages of the Italian winger, but Bernardeschi’s departure from Juventus could unlock Gomez's transfer.

He will now join Venezia in a bid to resurrect his season, with the Lagunari’s sporting director Mattia Collauto telling reporters that he was one of Italian football’s brightest young prospects.

Ivan Perišić update

In the latest Serie A transfer news and rumours, the Croatian Inter winger Ivan Perišić is likely to stay at the club until the end of the season as it is unlikely that a team will be willing to pay €15 million for the 31-year-old. Ivan Perišić is not on Inter's unsold list, because Antonio Conte does not always play for him, according to fans and quoting Fabrizio Romano.

Inter will only be willing to sell Perišić if an offer of at least 15 million euros is received, but so far, no team has put such an offer on the table of Inter executives, and given the financial situation of the clubs, it seems unlikely that a team will buy him. So, if no surprises occur, Inter will keep their Croatian winger until the end of the season and will re-evaluate his sales situation in the summer. Conte has no problem with Perišić staying, as he counts on him as a substitute in the attacking line and on the left wing.

Alvaro Odriozola

is a serious option for Fiorentina. According to fans and quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina wants a right-back in the January transfer window because he has transferred Paul Lirola to Marseille. In addition to AC Milan's Andrea Conti and Napoli's Kevin Malcolm, Real Madrid's Alvaro Odriozola is on the purple list to strengthen the position. The player, born in 1995, has not always been a key player in Zidane's squad since joining Real and was even loaned out to Bayern Munich last season.

Tottenham and

Everton

set to miss out on Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik as in-demand striker traveled to France for a loan move to Marseille despite Premier League interest. Marseille have closed in on the loan signing of Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli after beating Tottenham and Everton to his signature, according to reports.

Milik has fallen massively out of favor at Napoli to the extent that he was left out of both their Serie A and Champions League squads, meaning he hasn't featured at all this season. Tottenham and Everton were looking to capitalize on his tough situation at Napoli but according to Sky Sport Italia, Marseille have got their man with Milik traveling to France today to complete his medical.

Christian Eriksen Update

According to the fans and quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter still hopes for a team to attract Christian Eriksen. They are working to bring the Danish midfielder to the English Premier League, but his net salary of €7.5 million greatly reduces the chances of finding a new team. It seems that Inter have no problem lending Eriksen, if most of his salary is paid by the opposing team.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, despite the constant rumors about the departure of Christian Eriksen in the current transfer window, the Danish midfielder is training with the utmost professionalism and is trying to convince Antonio Conte to offer him new opportunities.

Sky Italia also reported that Eriksen's future could be in London, especially Tottenham. His agent is looking for the right solution, especially economically. Given what happened between Inter and Tottenham last year (Inter paid €20 million for a player with just six months left on his contract), Nerazzurri do not want to loan the 28-year-old midfielder to the London club for free.

Fikayo Tomori admits surprise at AC Milan loan and calls his move to Serie A 'an opportunity I couldn't turn down' after the defender was exiled by Frank Lampard at Chelsea. The 23-year-old defender said speaking with Paolo Maldini, now the club's technical director, confirmed that Milan was where he wanted to be after being left on the sidelines at Chelsea by manager Frank Lampard.

Inter were heavily linked with a move for Gomez in January but the Argentine forward’s hopes of swapping one Nerazzurri club for another were always slim. Atalanta have never shown any intention of dropping their asking price of €10 million, a fee Inter could not afford to offer, while they were also reportedly adamant throughout that they would not sell Gomez to a direct rival in Serie A. Deulofeu now stays in Udinese and is no longer a Watford player. Both Udinese and Watford belong to the Pozzo family. The Italian family once owned Granada in Spain. Antonio Sanabria

Paraguayan international Antonio ‘Tonny’ Sanabria has signed for

Torino

from

Real Betis Balompié

, swapping La Liga for Serie A. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Torino completes the deal for Antonio Sanabria. The Granata club made an official statement announcing the arrival of the Betis attacker. Sanabria arrives on a 7 million euro deal with a 3 million euro bonus. In addition, the deal gives Torino 90% of the player’s transfer registration with Real Betis holding the remaining 10% percent as a future sell-on option.

The attacker made his debut for Sassuolo in 2014 before moving to AS Roma that summer. Meanwhile, he returned to Italy in January 2019 (signing for Genoa on loan), where he scored nine goals in 39 appearances. Now he is back in Serie A, this time in Turin. He will link up with his former Genoa manager Davide Nicola, who expressed a strong petition to be reunited with his former forward.

Sami Khedira Update

The former German international has joined Hertha Berlin after a five-year contract with Juventus. It’s been over 14 months since Sami Khedira last appeared in a game for Juventus. It’s been even longer since Khedira, once considered a key player in Juventus’ starting lineup that advanced to the second of two Champions League finals in the span of three years, was the player that first showed up in Turin.

Juventus announced that Khedira has terminated his contract, one that was set to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season, and it was by mutual consent so he can join Hertha Berlin on a free transfer after taking a medical with the club over the weekend. According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio and German Kicker, Khedira has agreed to a contract with Hertha until 2023.

Currently, the Hertha from Germany’s capital city are 15th in the table and are trying to avoid relegating from Bundesliga. By adding Sami Khedira, they will solidify a midfield that has largely underperformed so far this season and has a lot of experience from Serie A. "I feel physically very good and I want to help the team and Hertha to be successful on a sporting level by using my experience," Khedira said in a statement.

Joshua Zirkzee

From the first days of the January transfer window, there’s been a lot of rumuors about

Joshua Zirkzee

. At first, he was set to replace

Bas Dost

in

Eintracht Frankfurt

. 19-year-old Dutch striker from Bayern Munich, who does not get a chance to play in this team, had been working on an agreement with Parma.

On the last day of the transfer window, through a statement on their official website, Italian Serie A club Parma have confirmed the capture of Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee. Parma indicated there is an option to buy, but there was no specific cost listed. It is expected that the specific purchase cost at the end of the loan agreement between the clubs could be worth €15 million. The deal itself is not exactly what Bayern Munich wanted. Finally, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano squeeze out even more of the finer details, including Bayern Munich reportedly set to receive 7.5% of any future sale of Zirkzee.

The 19-year-old has registered 4 goals in seventeen first team appearances for the Bavarians, of which four were starts. Everton had considered the possibility of signing Zirkzee before Parma won the race for his signature. The dutchman has a better chance to play at Parma, which is currently 19th in the Serie A table.

Bryan Reynolds Update

American defender Bryan Reynolds has made a big move to European football, joining big Italian club AS Roma in Serie A. The 19-year-old right back after completing his first full season in Major League Soccer is taking his career to the next level in Rome.

Reynolds is FC Dallas’ youngest ever signing. He joined FC Dallas in 2016 and now he becomes the second U.S. player to play for Roma. Juventus was also interested in Reynolds but the young defender joined following in the footsteps of long time United States national team captain Michael Bradley. Juventus had a good transfer in the summer window and signed the 2020 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year Weston McKennie. McKennie is also an FC Dallas academy product, he has reached a crucial role in Juventus.

Viktor Kovalenko

Atalanta officially confirmed signing Ukrainian talent

Viktor Kovalenko

. Viktor Kovalenko came through

Shakhtar Donetsk

's academy and made his way to the senior team. The 25 years old midfielder had 130 Ukrainian Premier League appearances in Shakhtar Donetsk and scored 23 goals.

Leaving the Ukrainian league could be a great opportunity for Kovalenko to be a star outside his country. Despite his estimated worth is high Atalanta signed him for less than a million euros. Kovalenko had less than six months contract length remaining with Shakhtar. He is now on a four and a half year contract with the Bergamo club. Gasperini has another Ukrainian player in his squad. Ruslan Malinovskiy was also transferred from Shakhtar.

Daniele Rugani

In the summer transfer window,

Daniele Rugani

left Juventus to have more playing time in

Rennes

, but eventually, he only had one appearance for the French team. This situation was an exit sign for the 26 years old Italian defender. Despite the efforts of Torino, it was Cagliari that sealed the deal.

Cagliari is struggling at the relegation zone and it is going to be a good challenge for Rugani. It could be a good experience for him to play side by side

Diego Godin

in the defense. The loan deal expires at the end of the season and he may return to Juventus. Rugani draws attention through his time at Empoli, but he spent his youth team career at Juventus by joining the them in 2013.
