Roberto Baggio Assaulted in Home Invasion

Roberto Baggio, the 1993 Ballon d'Or winner, was spending time with his family at their home in Vicenza when the property was invaded by at least five masked intruders. According to reports from Corriere del Vento, the assailants, who were armed and appeared to be professionals, broke into the property around 10pm.

Baggio confronted one of the intruders and was struck by the butt of a gun, causing a serious cut on his forehead. The rest of Baggio’s family were led to another room and locked in while the intruders ransacked the home, stealing watches, jewelry, and money. After the intruders left, Baggio managed to break down a door and call the police.

Local police have taken statements from Baggio and his family and are reviewing surveillance footage. Baggio was subsequently taken to the emergency room in Arzignano, where he received medical treatment and stitches for his head injury. Fortunately, the rest of Baggio’s family were unharmed in the incident.
