Navas and Joaquin to break the all-time derby record

If the clubs' captains appear for their sides in tonight’s Real Betis – Sevilla clash, they will equal the most ‘El Gran Darbi’ appearances record on 20.

Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium will host the Seville derby tonight which might prove to be a keystone in the history of both clubs.

Known as the La Liga’s most passionate derby, Jesus Navas is likely to captain Sevilla in a match that will be his 20th derby appearance, sharing the record with Betis’ Joaquin.

The first derby between these two teams from the Andalusian capital took place in 1915, and the most surprising result of the derby came in 1918, when Sevilla won the match 22-0.
