Robert Lewandowski

  • Full name: Robert Lewandowski

  • Date of birth: 21 August 1988 (age 33)

  • Place of birth: Warsaw, Poland

  • Height: 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in)

  • Position(s): Striker

  • Current team: Bayern Munich

The first on the list of the

Bundesliga's top scorers in 2021

is Robert Lewandowski who topped the Bundesliga scoring chart last season with an astonishing 41 goals.

Lewandowski scored twice in

Bayern

's 4-1 win at home to Greuther Fürth on Matchday 23. The FIFA Best Men's Player has scored as many times as at the same juncture last season, when he went on to hit a record 41 single-season goals.

This season he has played 23 games and has scored 28 goals. He scored 71 minutes per goal this season.

Robert Lewandowski (born 21 August 1988) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and is the captain of the

Poland national team

.

Recognized for his positioning, technique and finishing, Lewandowski is considered one of the best strikers of all time, as well as one of the most successful players in Bundesliga history. He has scored over 600 senior career goals for club and country.

Lewandowski was born in Warsaw and grew up in Leszno, Warsaw West County. He took his first steps in football as an unregistered player for the local club, Partyzant Leszno. In 1997, he joined MKS Varsovia Warsaw, where as a teen he played for seven years.

The following year he moved to 4th tier side Delta Warsaw, where he finally managed to play in the first team, scoring four goals at the end of the season.

In 2006–07 Lewandowski was the Polish third division's top goal scorer with 15 goals, helping Znicz Pruszkow win the promotion. The next season, he was the top scorer in the Polish second highest division with 21 goals.

After being the top scorer in the third and second tiers of Polish football with Znicz Pruszków, Lewandowski moved to top-flight Lech Poznań, helping the team win the 2009–10 Ekstraklasa.

In 2010, he transferred to Borussia Dortmund, where he won honors including two consecutive Bundesliga titles and the league's top goal scorer award. In 2013, he also featured with Dortmund in the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final.

Prior to the start of the 2014–15 season, Lewandowski agreed to join Dortmund's domestic rivals, Bayern Munich, on a free transfer. In Munich, he has won the Bundesliga title in each of his first seven seasons.

In a strange way, Robert Lewandowski’s five goals in nine minutes for Bayern Munich against Wolfsburg in 2015 feels like an underappreciated moment.

With his Bayern side trailing 1-0 at half-time, Pep Guardiola brought Lewandowski on for

Thiago Alcantara

, and what followed would earn him no fewer than four Guinness World Records.

He netted in the 51st, 52nd, 55th, 57th and 60th minute, scoring the most goals by a Bundesliga substitute (5), as well as the quickest three-goal (3'22"), four-goal (5'42") and five-goal (8'59") hauls in league history.

It was one of two career-defining performances for Lewandowski, following his virtuoso display for Dortmund against

Real Madrid

in April 2013, when he became the first player to score four times in a UEFA Champions League semi-final and truly announced himself on the world stage.

“I am very satisfied, that was incredible, I just wanted to shoot, I didn’t really think what will happen afterwards. Having been one down, we knew that we must improve and score twice at least. But five goals, that’s incredible.” Lewandowski told Sky at full-time, per ESPN.

Lewandowski was integral in Bayern's UEFA Champions League win in 2019–20 as part of a treble. He is one of only two players, alongside

Johan Cruyff

, to achieve the European treble, while being the highest goal scorer in all three competitions, and first to do it as the sole top scorer.

A full international for Poland since 2008, Lewandowski has earned over 120 caps and was a member of their team at UEFA Euro 2012, Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2020. With 74 international goals, Lewandowski is the all-time top scorer for Poland.

He won IFFHS World's Best International Goal Scorer Award in 2015 and 2021, IFFHS World's Best Top Goal Scorer Award in 2020 and 2021, and IFFHS World's Best Top Division Goal Scorer Award in 2021.

He also won the IFFHS World's Best Player in 2020 and 2021 and the European Golden Shoe for the 2020–21 season. Moreover, Lewandowski has been named the Polish Footballer of the Year a record nine times and the Polish Sports Personality of the Year three times.

In 2020, Lewandowski won the Best FIFA Men's Player Award (retained in 2021) and the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award. He has been named to the UEFA Team of the Year twice and the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season four times, and is the third-highest goal scorer in the history of the competition.

Lewandowski has been named the VDV Bundesliga Player of the Season a record five times. He has scored over 300 goals in the Bundesliga (second-highest goal scorer of all time in Bundesliga, behind only Gerd Müller's 365 Bundesliga goals), having reached the century mark quicker than any other foreign player, and is the league's all-time leading foreign goal scorer.

Moreover, he has won the

Bundesliga Top Scorer Award

in six seasons, most prominently in the 2020–21 Bundesliga where he scored 41 goals in a single campaign, breaking

Gerd Müller

's previous Bundesliga record of 40 goals, set in 1971–72. On 30 November 2021, he finished second in the Ballon d'Or, just 33 points behind the winner

Lionel Messi

.

Patrik Schick

  • Full name: Patrik Schick

  • Date of birth: 24 January 1996 (age 26)

  • Place of birth: Prague, Czech Republic

  • Height: 1.9 m (6 ft 3 in)

  • Position(s): Forward

  • Current team: Bayer Leverkusen

No Leverkusen player has ever had so many goals after 23 matchdays as Schick, who scored in successive games against VfB Stuttgart and Mainz following a two-game lean spell. He played 20 games this season and scored 20 goals with overall 78 minutes per goal.

The second on the list of the

Bundesliga's top scorers in 2021

is Patrik Schick (born 24 January 1996), who is a Czech professional footballer. He plays as a forward for Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen and the Czech Republic national team.

Born in Prague, Schick began his career with local club Sparta Prague, rising through their youth ranks, before making his senior debut as a teenager. In 2016, at the age of 20, he earned a move to Sampdoria in Italy after an impressive spell with Bohemians 1905.

After an impressive debut season in Italy, he moved to Roma in 2017 for a reported club-record fee. In 2019, Schick moved to Germany to join RB Leipzig on a season-long loan before moving to Bundesliga rivals

Bayer Leverkusen

on a permanent basis in September 2020.

Formerly an international at under-16, under-17, under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels, Schick made his debut for the Czech Republic in May 2016 at the age of 22. He has made over 30 caps for his country and helped the national team reach the quarter-finals of the European Championship in 2020, where he won both the Goal of the Tournament and the Silver Boot as the second-highest goal scorer of the tournament.

The Prague-born player was spotted by Sparta Prague when he was 11 years old. He made his top-flight debut for Sparta on 3 May 2014 in a 3–1 away loss at Teplice. Sparta would win the domestic double that campaign but four appearances over two campaigns meant Schick crossed town to join Bohemians 1905 on loan for the 2015–16 season.

He scored 8 goals in 27 outings for Bohemians during a relegation battle. Schick returned to Sparta and was expected to feature prominently for the club during the 2016–17 season, but David Lafata was preferred and when Sparta offered Schick a new contract, his agent turned it down.

Schick signed for Sampdoria in June 2016 for a reported fee of €4 million. In his first season in Italy, he appeared in 32 league matches and scored 11 goals for Sampdoria. He started 14 times and was able to find the back of the net once every 137 minutes.

In May 2017, he refused to extend his contract, expecting a transfer to another club. In June 2017, Juventus triggered the release clause of a reported €30 million on Schick's contract. Schick failed two separate medicals and Juventus backed out of the deal on 18 July.

On 29 August 2017 Schick joined Roma on a temporary deal for a loan fee of €5 million with a conditional obligation to buy the player once certain sporting objectives had been achieved, rising to €40 million, a club record fee. Schick spent most of his spell at Roma playing out on the right wing or left up front by himself and he scored only 8 times in 58 games.

On 2 September 2019,

RB Leipzig

announced the signing of Schick on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy him permanently. Alongside Timo Werner, Schick rekindled his form with 10 goals in 28 games for Leipzig as the club finished in third place in the Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

On 8 September 2020, Schick joined Bayer Leverkusen on a five-year deal for a reported fee of €26.5 million plus bonuses. Schick scored his first goal in a UEFA competition on 26 November 2020, coming in a 4–1 win over Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the group stage of the Europa League.

Schick was the preferred center-forward for much of the 2020–21 campaign at the BayArena and finished with 9 strikes across 29 league games

On 4 December 2021, Schick scored four goals, all in the second half, in a 7–1 win over Greuther Fürth. Schick continued his good form in Leverkusen's next two league games, scoring a brace in each match against

Eintracht Frankfurt

and Hoffenheim respectively.

Schick was called up to the Czech Republic senior side for the first time at their pre-UEFA Euro 2016 training camp. He earned his first cap for the nation in their tournament warm-up game against Malta on 27 May 2016. Schick scored his first goal for the national team in the same match, rounding out the scoring in a 6–0 win.

On 3 July, he scored in a 2–1 defeat against Denmark in the quarter-finals, to equal Milan Baros record of five goals for the Czech Republic in a European Championship tournament. Alongside

Cristiano Ronaldo

, he was the UEFA Euro 2020 joint top scorer with 5 goals, with the higher of number of goals scored from an open play.

On 25 May 2021, Schick was included in the Czech Republic's final 26-man squad for the postponed UEFA Euro 2020 tournament. In the first group stage match against Scotland on 14 June at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Schick scored both goals as the Czech Republic won 2–0. The second strike from the halfway line was the longest-recorded goal at the Euros since 1980 at 45 meters.

The goal was later voted as the "goal of the tournament", and was nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award. He became the first Czech player since Tomáš Rosický at the 2006 FIFA World Cup to score a brace at a major tournament and the first since Milan Baroš in 2004 to do so at the European Championships.

Erling Haaland

  • Full name: Erling Braut Haaland

  • Date of birth: 21 July 2000 (age 21)

  • Place of birth: Leeds, England

  • Height  1.94 m (6 ft 4 in)

  • Position(s): Striker

  • Current team: Borussia Dortmund

Despite sitting out seven matches through injury,

Erling Haaland

has scored 16 times at a clip of one goal every 72 minutes. The Norwegian scoring machine's latest strike came in BVB's 3-2 win at Hoffenheim.

Erling Braut Haaland (born 21 July 2000) is among the

Bundesliga's top scorers in 2021

. He is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a striker for German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the Norway national team.

A prolific goal scorer, Haaland is recognized for his pace, athleticism and finishing ability. He is considered one of the best strikers in world football.

Haaland was born in Leeds, England, as his father Alf-Inge Haaland was playing for Leeds United in the Premier League at the time. In 2004, at the age of three, he moved to Bryne, his parents' hometown in Norway.

Along with playing football from an early age, Haaland partook in various other sports as a child, including handball, golf, and track and field. He also reportedly achieved a world record in his age category for the standing long jump when he was five, with a recorded distance of 1.63 meters in 2006.

Haaland started his career at his hometown club Bryne in 2016, and moved to Molde the following year; he spent two seasons with the club before signing with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019. At

Salzburg

, he won two Austrian Bundesliga titles and one Austrian Cup.

Haaland became the first teenager to score in five consecutive UEFA Champions League matches during the 2019–20 season. In December 2019, he completed a transfer to Borussia Dortmund for a fee reported to be in the region of €20 million.

Haaland also won the 2020 Golden Boy award. In 2020–21, he was integral in Dortmund's DFB-Pokal win, won the Bundesliga Player of the Season award and finished as the top scorer of the Champions League.

On 19 August 2018, Austrian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg announced that Haaland would join the club on 1 January 2019, signing a five-year contract. The Athletic's Phil Hay would later reveal that prior to his move to Salzburg, Haaland was also subject of an offer from his father's former club Leeds United.

He made his debut for the club on 17 February, the 2018–19 Austrian Cup quarter-finals against Wiener Neustädter, and scored his first goal on 12 May in the Austrian Bundesliga 2–1 win over LASK.

On 19 July, he scored his first hat-trick for the club in a 7–1 Austrian Cup win against SC-ESV Parndorf, and followed this up with his first hat-trick in the league on 10 August, scoring three in a 5–2 victory against Wolfsberger AC.

He got a third hat-trick for Salzburg on 14 September in a 7–2 victory over TSV Hartberg; this was the sixth consecutive league game Haaland had scored in, with eleven total goals during this timeframe.

Three days later, Haaland made his debut in the UEFA Champions League against Genk, where he scored three goals in the first half of an eventual 6–2 victory, his fourth overall hat-trick for Salzburg.

In his next two matches of the Champions League season, Haaland recorded a goal against Liverpool at Anfield and a further two against Napoli, becoming only the second teenager after

Karim Benzema

in the history of the competition to score in each of his first three appearances.

His six goals were also the most scored by any player in their first three Champions League matches. After converting a penalty in Salzburg's reverse fixture against Napoli, Haaland became the first teenager to score in his first four matches in the competition, and only the fourth player of any age to achieve this feat, following Zé Carlos, Alessandro Del Piero and Diego Costa.

He then scored all three goals in Salzburg's 3–0 victory at Wolfsberger AC on 10 November, recording his fifth hat-trick of the season and his second against Wolfsburg.

On 27 November, Haaland came off the bench to score another goal against Genk, joining Del Piero, Serhii Rebrov,

Neymar

, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski as the only players to score in the first five matches of a Champions League group stage, and becoming the first teenager to score in five consecutive matches in the competition.

However, he would fail to find the net in Salzburg's final group match against Liverpool, as his side lost 2–0 and were eliminated from the competition. This would prove to be Haaland's final game for the club; he departed Salzburg having recorded 29 goals, with 28 of these coming in only 22 appearances made during the 2019–20 season.

Despite being a reported target of Manchester United and

Juventus

, German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund confirmed the signing of Haaland on 29 December 2019, three days before the winter transfer window opened, for a fee reported to be in the region of €20 million, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Haaland represented Norway at various youth levels. In the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Haaland won the tournament's Golden Boot, after scoring a record nine goals in a single match. He made his senior international debut in September 2019.

DFB-Pokal

.

In his Bundesliga debut with Köln on 16 August, Modeste converted a penalty, which he earned himself after being fouled by goalkeeper Przemysław Tytoń, for a winner at Stuttgart, while later assisting Yuya Osako for the final goal in a 1–3 victory.

After a slow start to the season in terms of goals, Reus has really started to hit his straps in 2022, registering five goals in six appearances, most recently a double in the thumping win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 23.

The last but not the list on the list of the

Bundesliga's top scorers in 2021

is

Marco Reus

(born 31 May 1989). He is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for and captains Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and the Germany national team.

Reus spent his youth career at Borussia Dortmund, prior to leaving for Rot Weiss Ahlen. He joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2009, and had his most successful season in 2012, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists in the Bundesliga to help Borussia Mönchengladbach secure a place in the following season's UEFA Champions League.

Reus returned to his hometown club Borussia Dortmund at the end of that season, helping the club reach the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final in his first season. With Dortmund, Reus won three DFL-Supercups (in 2013, 2014 and 2019), and the DFB-Pokal in 2017 and 2021, and he has scored over 150 goals for the club. He has been named Bundesliga Player of the Season on three occasions.

Reus was born in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. He began to play football for his hometown club Post SV Dortmund in 1994 and joined the youth ranks of Borussia Dortmund in 1996.

On 25 May 2009, Reus signed a four-year contract with Bundesliga club

Borussia Mönchengladbach

. On 28 August, he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a game against Mainz 05 after a 50-metre solo run, and since then became a prolific goal scorer for his club under Lucien Favre.

With the Germany national team, Reus has only 48 caps, due to his recurring injuries in recent years. He missed the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which Germany won, but played in UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
