Premier League 2022 summer transfer news

From Raheem Sterling joining Chelsea in a shock move, to Leeds United making a profit with Raphinha’s sale to Barcelona, there are many exciting transfers to talk about in the

Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window

. So without further ado, here is everything you need to know about the latest arrivals and departures in the English top-flight.

Arsenal

Arrivals:

Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner, Marquinhos

Departures:

Matteo Guendouzi (Olympique Marseille), Lucas Torreira (Galatasaray), Bernd Leno (Fulham), Konstantinos Mavropanos (VfB Stuttgart), Alexandre Lacazette (Olympique Lyon)

The Gunners are believed to be the dark horses of the English Premier League for a reason and that reason is none other than Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian joined Arsenal from Manchester City for a little over €50 million during the EPL 2022 summer transfer window and has managed to become a fan-favorite since his arrival. Jesus was already a prolific striker under Pep Guardiola’s management, yet he was struggling to find a place in the Spaniard’s starting-XI, which is exactly why he decided to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to become their main goal-scorer. Following in his footsteps, Oleksandr Zinchenko has also joined the Gunners from Man City for €35 million. Add Fabio Vieira to the mix and you have a fierce team for the new season.

Aston Villa

Arrivals:

Diego Carlos, Philippe Coutinho, Robin Olsen, Boubacar Kamara, Ludwig Augustinsson

Departures:

Carney Chukwuemeka (Chelsea), Matt Targett (Newcastle), Trezeguet (Trabzonspor), Lovre Kalinic (Hajduk Split), Conor Hourihane (Derby County), Keinan Davis (Watford - loan), Wesley Moraes (Levante – loan)

The most high-profile

Aston Villa

signing in the

Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window

is without a doubt former Liverpool and Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian was once lauded as one of the best wingers in the world, yet his poor performance at Barcelona after his departure from Liverpool led to him falling out of favor with both his teammates and his managers.

After a successful loan spell at Bayern Munich, during which he managed to score against the Blaugrana in the Champions League match which saw the Bavarians humiliate the Catalans in an 8-2 thrashing, Coutinho returned to Barca and once again failed to deliver on his promises. He then joined Aston Villa on loan last season and managed to prove himself to be an essential part of the club. That is why Villa have now paid €20 million to acquire his services and put him on the list of English Premier League summer transfers of 2022.

AFC Bournemouth

Arrivals:

Marcos Senesi, Marcus Tavernier, Joe Rothwell, Ryan Fredericks, Neto

Departures:

Robbie Brady (Preston), Gary Cahill (Free Agent), Gavin Kilkenny (Stoke City)

Next up on

Premier League 2022 summer transfer news

we have

AFC Bournemouth

, who managed to earn a promotion to the top-flight after fighting for a second place in the Championship last season. They managed to end the second-tier of English football with 88 points, finishing just behind Fulham. Since earning their place in the EPL this season, Bournemouth have acquired the likes of Marcos Senesi and Marcus Tavernier, who have arrived at the club for €15 million and €12 million respectively.

Brentford

Arrivals:

Keane Lewis-Potter, Aaron Hickey, Mikkel Damsgaard, Thomas Strakosha, Ben Mee

Departures:

Marcus Forss (Middlesbrough), Christian Eriksen (Manchester United), Julian Jeanvier (AJ Auxerre), Dominic Thompson (Blackpool), Tariqe Fosu (Stoke City – loan)

It might not seem like it, but Brentford have been one of the busier teams in the Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window. The English side had to say goodbye to a quality midfielder named Christian Eriksen, who joined Manchester United on a free transfer only to horrendously lose to his former side in a 4-0 humiliating defeat. On the list of

English Premier League summer transfers of 2022

, the names of Keane Lewis-Potter, Aaron Hickey and Mikkel Damsgaard can also be seen, all of whom have joined Brentford during the preseason.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Arrivals:

Pervis Estupinan, Julio Enciso, Simon Adingra, Levi Colwill (loan)

Departures:

Marc Cucurella (Chelsea), Yves Bissouma (Tottenham), Leo Ostigard (Napoli), Tudor Baluta (FCV Farul), Simon Adingra (Union SG – loan), Shane Duffy (Fulham – loan)

The Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window has seen Pervis Estupinan, Julio Enciso and Simon Adingra join

Brighton

from Villarreal, Libertad and Nordsjaelland respectively. However, the English club have made a fortune by selling Marc Cucurella to Chelsea for a whopping €65 million and letting go of Yves Bissouma for almost €30 million, with the latter joining Tottenham.

Chelsea

Arrivals:

Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, Gabriel Slonina

Departures:

Timo Werner (RB Leipzig), Romelu Lukaku (Inter – loan), Malang Sarr (Monaco – loan), Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid), Jake Clarke-Salter (QPR), Andreas Christensen (Barcelona)

Chelsea

experienced a horrible turmoil after their previous owner Roman Abramovich’s accounts were suspended in England due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Since then, however, the Blues have managed to lift themselves up once again, signing the likes of Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.

In the departures department, the London-based club have also had to let go of their two main strikers Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku arrived at Chelsea for a massive fee, yet failed to deliver on his promises and started to feel homesick for his days at Inter. That is why the Belgian goal scorer has now returned to Inter on a loan deal until the end of the 2022-23 season. We will have to wait and see if Chelsea are going to make another signing during the

EPL 2022 summer transfer window

or not.

Crystal Palace

Arrivals:

Cheick Doucoure, Chris Richards, Sam Johnstone, Malcolm Ebiowei

Departures:

Christian Benteke (DC United), Jaroslaw Jach (Zaglebie Lubin), Jacob Montes (Botafogo), Cheikhou Kouyate (Nottingham Forest)

Crystal Palace have made a couple of high-profile signings in the Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window as well. Cheick Doucoure has arrived at the club for €22 million from Lens, while Chris Richards has joined the English side from Bayern Munich for €12 million.

Everton

Arrivals:

Amadou Onana, James Tarkowski, Dwight McNeil, Ruben Vinagre (loan), Conor Coady (loan)

Departures:

Richarlison (Tottenham), Cenk Tosun (Besiktas), Jonjoe Kenny (Hertha BSC), Joao Virginia (SC Cambuur – loan), Fabian Delph (Free Agent), Gylfi Sigurdsson (Free Agent)

With the money earned from Richarlison’s sale to Tottenham Hotspur, Everton have managed to be quite active in the Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window by signing the likes of Amadou Onana, James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeil. Even though none of these players are a direct replacement for Richarlison, they could help improve Everton’s overall stats in the coming months.

Fulham

Arrivals:

Joao Palhinha, Issa Diop, Andreas Pereira, Kevin Mbabu, Bernd Leno, Shane Duffy

Departures:

Andre Zambo Anguissa (Napoli), Fabio Carvalho (Liverpool), Alfie Mawson (Wycombe), Jean Michael Seri (Hull City), Steven Sessegnon (Charlton – loan)

Fulham

have spent more than €50 million in the Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window and have only managed to earn back half of their expenditures through the sale of Andre Zambo Anguissa and Fabio Carvalho. They have had a rather mediocre start to the season with two draws in two games. We will have to wait and see if they can lift themselves up for the rest of the campaign with their new signings, or if the new arrivals are going to need more than a season to settle in at their new club.

Leeds United

Arrivals:

Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Tyler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca, Joel Robles

Departures:

Raphinha (Barcelona), Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City), Leif Davis (Ipswich Town), Laurens De Bock (Zulte Waregem), Kiko Casilla (Getafe)

According to the latest Premier League 2022 summer transfer news,

Leeds United

have already managed to match their expenditures with their income after signing the likes of Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra, Tuler Adams, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca. However, these new additions will need a bit of time to finally settle in at the club and even reach the level that Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips were in. The two talents joined Barcelona and Manchester City respectively and earned Leeds United more than €100 million.

Leicester City

Arrivals:

Alex Smithies

Departures:

Kasper Schmeichel (OGC Nice), Hamza Choudhury (Watford – loan), Eldin Jakupovic (Free agent)

Leicester City

said goodbye to one of the greatest goalkeepers in their history as Kasper Schmeichel left for OGC Nice for a million Euros. At least the Foxes can stay calm after the club signed a contract extension with Jamie Vardy.

Liverpool

Arrivals:

Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay

Departures:

Sadio Mane (Bayern Munich), Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest), Takumi Minamino (Monaco), Marko Grujic (FC Porto), Ben Davies (Rangers), Sheyi Ojo (Cardiff City), Ben Woodburn (Preston North End), Divock Origi (AC Milan), Rhys Williams (Blackpool – loan), Loris Karius (Free agent)

Jurgen Klopp has let go of so many of his players this season, while only signing three inexperienced players so far in the summer transfer window. Sadio Mane’s absence from the

Liverpool

squad has had its tolls in the past couple of weeks as the Reds have since struggled to find their feet in the Premier League. The Premier League 2022-23 summer transfer window has seen others such as Takumi Minamino, Ben Davies, Ben Woodburn and Divock Origi, among other class footballers leave Liverpool for clubs in other top European leagues.

Manchester City

Arrivals:

Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Sergio Gomez, Stefan Ortega

Departures:

Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal), Pedro Porro (Sporting CP), Ko Itakura (Borussia Monchengladbach), Arijanet Muric (Burnley), Fernandinho (Athletico PR), Daniel Arzani (Macarthur)

Even though Pep Guardiola decided to sell both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling in the same transfer window, he more than made up for it by signing Erling Haaland and Kalvin Phillips while also adding Sergio Gomez to his squad list. We will have to wait and see if Haaland can finally help City and Guardiola win the Champions League, or if the Spanish manager’s curse is going to continue for the rest of his time Man City.

Manchester United

Arrivals:

Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen

Departures:

Andreaas Pereira (Fulham), Eric Bailly (Marseille – loan), Nemanja Matic (AS Roma), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Dean Henderson (Nottingham Forest - loan), Alex Telles (Sevilla – loan)

Despite their win over Liverpool,

Manchester United

are in turmoil both with Cristiano Ronaldo and in the Premier League itself. The Red Devils have let go of many of their quality players for free, while spending more than a hundred million Euros on signing new players so far this season. Having signed Casemiro from Real Madrid, United could be heading towards a better future with the Brazilian defensive midfielder.

Newcastle United

Arrivals:

Alexander Isak, Sven Botman, Matt Targett, Nick Pope

Departures:

Dwight Gayle (Stoke City), Freddie Woodman (Preston North End), Isaac Hayden (Norwich City – loan), Jeff Hendrick (Reading – loan)

Newcastle have received quite a hefty transfer budget for the seasons ahead thanks to their new owners and it seems that the English club is slowly upping its transfer class by signing better players each season.

Nottingham Forest

Arrivals:

Morgan Gibbs-White, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Emmanuel Dennis, Orel Mangala, Giulian Biancone, Moussa Niakhate, Lewis O’Brien, Remo Freuler, Omar Richards, Ui-Jo Hwang, Harry Toffolo, Brandon Aguilera, Cheikhou Kouyate, Wayne Hennessey, Jessey Lingard, Dean Henderson (loan)

Departures:

Brice Samba (Lens), Nuno Da Costa (AJ Auxerre), Nikolas Loannou (Como), Tobias Figueiredo (Hull City), Lewis Grabban (Al-Ahli), Carl Jenkinson (Newcastle)

Nottingham Forest have perhaps had the best transfer window amongst all Premier League clubs this season. Even though they were not able to sign any superstars, they were at least able to create a much stronger side by signing more than six players in the summer transfer window. They have spent more than €150M so far and it finally seems like their squad overhaul is over.

Southampton

Arrivals:

Gavin Bazunu, Sekou Mara, Romeo Lavia, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Joe Aribo, Mateusz Lis

Departures:

Harry Lewis (Bradford), Fraser Forster (Tottenham), Shane Long (Reading)

Southampton have paid more than €13 million to sign Gavin Bazunu from Manchester City’s U21 squad. They have also signed several other young talents over the summer, while letting go of their older players. Of course we are yet to see if this transfer policy could prove effective in the club’s favor or if the insufficient chemistry between the new arrivals is going to cause problems in the near future.

Tottenham

Arrivals:

Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet (loan)

Departures:

StevenBergwijn (Ajax), Cameron Carter-Vickers (Celtic), Tanguy Ndombele (SSC Napoli – loan), Jack Clarke (Sunerland), Giovani Lo Celso (Villarreal – loan), Destiny Udogie (Udinese – loan)

Tottenham

have come a long way since Antonio Conte first took charge of the London-based club. Talented players such as Richarlison and Yves Bissouma have arrived at Tottenham and we are eager to see if they can finally win some silverware after so many years.

West Ham United

Arrivals:

Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd, Maxwel Cornet, Emerson, Thilo Kehrer, Flynn Downes, Alphonse Areola

Departures:

Issa Diop (Fulham), Ryan Fredericks (Bournemouth), Andriy Yarmolenko (Al-Ain), Arthur Masuaku (Besiktas – loan), Nathan Trott (Vejle BK – loan)

It might not look like it, but West Ham United have spent more than €135 million on signing new players in the summer transfer window, while only earning from one of their sales in the process. The Hammers finished seventh last season and earned their place in the Conference League qualifiers, which is exactly why they have spent big this season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Arrivals:

Matheus Nunes, Goncalo Guedes, Nathan Collins, Hee-Chan Hwang

Departures:

Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Ruben Vinagre (Sporting CP), Marcal (Botafogo), Romain Saiss (Besiktas), John Ruddy (Birmingham), Conor Coady (Everton – loan), Bruno Jordao (Santa Clara – loan), Ki-Jana Hoever (PSV Eindhoven – loan)

The Wolves are serious about reaching a European tournament spot in the Premier League this season, which is why they have spent hefty fees on signing the likes of Matheus Nunes and Goncalo Guedes. It is only a matter of time before we get to see how these signings can help Wolverhampton in their quest for earning a spot in European football next season.
