Raphael Adelino José Guerreiro ComM (born December 22, 1993) is a left-back for Bundesliga club

Borussia Dortmund

and the Portugal national team.

He began his career at Caen before joining Lorient in 2013 and making his Ligue 1 debut. He was born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France, to a Portuguese father and a French mother. He joined Borussia Dortmund in June 2016.

Guerreiro was born in France and has represented Portugal at both the under-21 and senior levels, making his senior debut in 2014. He was a member of their squad at the 2018 World Cup, Euro 2016, and Euro 2020 tournaments, winning the latter in 2016.

Everything you need to know about Raphael Guerreiro Biography

Among the Best Left Backs in the World, he is known as "The Battery."

He is a player who epitomizes Lorient's astute commercial acumen, a club that has made a living off the transfer possibilities of hitherto untapped talent. He was signed by Caen for €3 million in 2013 and will be sold for about four times that amount.

His ascension has been gradual. He signed for Caen after graduating from the Clairefontaine academy, and he ultimately chose to represent Portugal over his native nation. It was a similar decision to Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, who is also in Portugal's Euro 2016 team, and it was made at a time when he barely spoke that language(Portuguese).

Guerreiro has established himself as a starter while the Lyon shot-stopper is on the bench. He made an impression in the opening encounter against Iceland – one of the few men from his team to do so – but it is his first international goal that he will be remembered for.
