Figo made his league debut on 1 April 1990 during the 1989–90 season as a substitute for Marlon Brandão in a 1–0 home win against Marítimo.

Luis Figo won the 2001 La Liga title in his first season with Real Madrid, and managed to score 14 goals in all competitions.
