Juventus’ response after Ronaldo’s departure

Juventus officially responded to the ruling issued against it, on Wednesday, in favor of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, star of Al-Nassr Saudi, came through an official statement announcing the court’s decision to mostly recognize the validity of the agreement to reduce the salary of the former player in the 2020/21 sports season. These dues were related to Ronaldo’s deferred monthly payments during the Corona pandemic, within what was known as the “salary maneuvers” case.

In its statement, Juventus confirmed that the judges did not see the existence of any supplementary agreement reached between the parties, and therefore, they refused Ronaldo’s demand to invalidate the salary reduction agreement, indicating that there was no violation by the company, which did not affect the former player’s will to sign the mentioned agreement.

As for the issued decision, the judges ruled to convict the company to pay an amount estimated at about 9.8 million euros, which equals half the amount required from the former player, which is about 19.6 million euros. Therefore, the company is obtaining support from its legal advisors to study the arbitration body’s ruling and the possibility of making any decision to protect its rights.

In addition, Juventus is heading towards completing the legal and judicial procedures to preserve its interests, with an emphasis on its commitment to all previously agreed financial agreements and arrangements. The club also intends to use all available legal means to ensure its rights and preserve its status in the sports and legal environment.
