Barcelona Without Glory: Absence from the 2025 Club World Cup

A humiliating exit from the Champions League topples hope and puts an end to the global dream. Officially, it has been confirmed that Barcelona will be absent from the Club World Cup competition for 2025, which has been announced definitively.

This decision comes after Barcelona was eliminated from the Champions League in the quarter-finals, where it suffered a humiliating defeat against Paris Saint-Germain with a score of 4-1 in the match that was held on Tuesday, after Barcelona won the first leg with a score of 3-2.

The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” pointed out that Barcelona is not only out of the Champions League, but will also be absent from the new version of the Club World Cup competition, which will witness the participation of 32 teams.

It was supposed that Barcelona would qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League, especially after Atletico Madrid was eliminated from the same round by Borussia Dortmund with a score of 5-4 in the aggregate of the first and second leg matches.

Atletico Madrid was leading by a difference of 6 points over Barcelona in the standings (77 points compared to 71 points) according to the results of the two teams in the last four versions of the Champions League.

The participation of Manchester City, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Porto, and Benfica clubs in the Club World Cup competition for 2025 has been confirmed.
