Roma’s Journey: From the Derby to Europe

The Story Under the Leadership of Daniele De Rossi and the Aspirations of Paulo Dybala

Argentine player Paulo Dybala, the star of Roma, insisted on the importance of his teammates benefiting from the arrival of Daniele De Rossi and his assumption of the coaching role, succeeding José Mourinho.

Roma is preparing for a tough match against Milan in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday. This encounter marks the first time the two teams have faced each other in European competitions.

In his statements to Football Italia, Dybala affirmed: “We are in a positive moment filled with confidence, and it’s natural that winning the derby gives you a strong boost throughout the week, allowing you to prepare with joy and relaxation.”

He added: “A match like this against Milan represents a significant test for us to gauge our progress, especially after the development we’ve achieved since the arrival of the new coach. We focus on our playing style and the instructions he demands from us. This match will be a fantastic opportunity to participate.”

Roma had dismissed Mourinho in January after their defeat to Milan in Serie A, but the team’s strength significantly improved after Daniele De Rossi took charge.

Regarding this, Dybala remarked: “De Rossi is embarking on his coaching career, and despite that, his training methods, daily efforts, and dedication to lifting players’ morale demonstrate that he possesses the qualifications to reach the level of top coaches like Allegri and Mourinho.”

He continued: “Losing a final match is the worst feeling a football player can experience. We gained a lot and lost a lot as well. However, our journey to that final match was remarkable, and we were very close to victory that night. The team was on the verge of making history at that time.”

He concluded: “Unfortunately, I also lost a UEFA Champions League final with Juventus and felt the same regret. But the positive side is that football always gives you a chance to bounce back and compensate for losses.”
