Ronaldo Clash: Between Law and Favoritism

Mohammed Al-Sheikh, the former official spokesperson for the Saudi Football Federation, has sparked controversy with his criticism of views favoring Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned star and captain of Al-Nassr.

While expressing his perspective, Al-Sheikh did not shy away from addressing the role of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, which summoned Ronaldo to testify regarding the red card incident during the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al-Hilal.

In a tweet on his Twitter account, Al-Sheikh emphasized that Ronaldo was no stranger to the football scene before joining Saudi Arabia. The Portuguese player had participated in several leagues, and there were no calls for bias or special protection in those countries. Al-Sheikh stressed that it is essential for Ronaldo to handle his actions on the field with the same rules and ethics applied to any other player, without favoritism or discrimination.

Concluding his tweet, Al-Sheikh highlighted that Ronaldo, like any other player, bears responsibility for his conduct during matches. The red card he received, resulting from a clash with an Al-Hilal player, marked the first such incident in Saudi matches since his arrival at Al-Nassr.

This incident raises important discussions about fairness, accountability, and the application of consistent standards in football, regardless of a player’s reputation or status.
