Modric from Chelsea to Arsenal
Despite Chelsea’s disappointment with their player Modric, will he move to Arsenal?
The Ukrainian international player was included from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2022 for astonishing fees reaching up to 89 million pounds ($113 million) including add-ons. So far, Modric has not come close to living up to that price, with his most impressive match coming in his first appearance against Liverpool and during the previous season. Despite the disappointing start to his career with Chelsea, Arsenal is said to be interested in bringing him to North London, according to Spanish site Fichajes.net.
The report indicates that Chelsea will listen to offers for the 22-year-old winger, with the primary goal being to loan him out for his development. However, the Blues may be interested in a permanent sale, with Arsenal and Serie A giants Juventus listed among potential suitors. However, Chelsea is looking to recoup a large portion of that £89 million investment, which, as the report acknowledges, will be difficult given Modric’s recent performance.
Chelsea hopes that their North London counterparts will give them a known quantity as they did when they signed Kai Havertz for a whopping £65 million ($82 million) last summer, and paid large sums for another struggling striker. However, this possibility would require Modric to build on his disappointing tally of four goals in 26 matches this season.
