Mazembe Triumphs with a Clean Triple and a Harsh Elimination for Pyramids from the Competition

A bitter defeat for the Egyptian Pyramids against Mazembe in the African Champions League

The Egyptian Pyramids team suffered a painful defeat at the hands of the Congolese Mazembe team, as the match ended with the guest team winning a clean triple in the fifth round of the group stage in the African Champions League, which was held today, Saturday.

Mazembe players scored their goals through Joel Beya, Glody Likonza, and Patient Mwamba in the 32nd, (45+1), and (90+2) minutes respectively.

The match witnessed protests from Pyramids players against the referee’s decision, Daniel Laria, due to not counting a penalty in favor of Fiston Mayele in the first half.

Mazembe team raised its balance to 10 points, leading the group, under the leadership of its coach Lamine Ndiaye, with a difference of 3 points from Sundowns, the runner-up team, which will play its match with Nouadhibou later today.

The balance of Pyramids, which is supervised by the Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurcic, froze at 4 points in the last place, which means its official exit from the championship as a result of Sundowns’ superiority in the direct confrontations between the two teams.

Pyramids did not show the expected performance and paid the price due to some mistakes in defense, especially in the second half, and did not benefit from the offensive changes made by its coach Jurcic, with the participation of the players Fagrie Lakay, Marwan Hamdi, and Ibrahim Adel.
