Vega Condemns Refereeing: Maximin’s Injury and His Absence for 8 Weeks Stir Controversy

The Al-Ahli midfielder complains and questions the fairness of refereeing after the injury of his French colleague and his long absence in the Roshn Professional League

Al-Ahli club midfielder, Gabriel Vega, fired at the match referee in the Saudi Professional League after the injury of his French colleague Allan Saint-Maximin during the team’s match against Al-Taawoun on Saturday evening.

Al-Ahli club achieved a crushing victory with a score of 4-1 over Al-Taawoun within the framework of the 21st round of the Roshn Professional League.

Maximin suffered a severe injury due to a violent intervention from Al-Taawoun player, Salman Al-Moasher, which required his immediate replacement.

This injury is the second that Vega suffers after he left the field injured in the previous match against Al-Kholood, which ended with the team’s loss 2-3.

In his comment on the incident, the Spanish player published a video of his colleague Maximin’s injury through his official account on the “Instagram” site, accompanying the video with a message condemning the current situation, in which he said: “This situation is not a coincidence, if this situation continues to be allowed, this matter will continue to happen”.

He added: “We are the only team suffering from this, it is unfair and really frustrating”.

Medical examinations revealed that Vega will be away from the fields for a long period that may extend to 8 weeks, which puts Al-Ahli club in a very difficult situation.
