Sherif Ekramy's Return and Preparations to Lead Pyramids

After an absence of 14 months, goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy is set to make a comeback as the starting goalkeeper for Pyramids FC.

Ekramy's name has been mentioned to lead the team in the upcoming match against Mamelodi Sundowns on the following Tuesday at Cairo's Defense Stadium, as part of the fourth round of the group stage in the CAF Champions League.

The team's primary goalkeeper, Ahmed El-Shenawy, is sidelined due to a rib fracture, keeping him away from the field for an entire month. Goalkeeper Ahmed Mihoub has been called up to be part of the squad, but Ekramy has a greater opportunity to participate as a starter against Sundowns, according to a source within Pyramids.

Sherif Ekramy left the Pyramids team delegation in South Africa before the third-round match, which ended in a goalless draw, due to a severe cold that also kept him out of the match against Baladiyat Al-Mahalla in the Egyptian Premier League.

Ekramy participated in the team's training sessions ahead of the Sundowns match, confirming his readiness to play. His last appearance with Pyramids was against Hilal Al-Sudan in the CAF Confederation Cup last season on October 15, 2022.

Pyramids faces significant player absences before the upcoming match, including Ahmed El-Shenawy, Ibrahim Adel, Islam Issa, Mahmoud Marai, Ramadan Sobhi, and Osama Jalal, who will be suspended.
